For years, Vince Camututo, the founder of the American clothing chain Vince, was known as a fashion pioneer and one of the country's most influential philanthropists. His bags, made of luxurious leather and lined with gold trim, were a symbol of his success, and he spent much of his time at his sprawling mansion, in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he lives in an ornate wood-and-glass mansion with a ga...
— Valentino is taking a fresh approach to its signature handbags with a limited-edition collection that includes two-tone bags, handbags that look like they belong on a runway and a new design for women’s handbags.
The luxury Italian brand unveiled a range of handbags Thursday at the Paris Fashion Week fair, but the focus was on women’s collections and its newest collection, which features a “vintage chic” look that includes handbags made from recycled paper.
Valento’s new handbags are designed to be worn on the runway, but are also handbags people can take with them to work.
Each of the bags features a vintage-style silhouette that mimics the look of the vintage handbags worn by Valentino’s models.
They are also made of hand-made recycled paper that Valentino says is “not made from plastic, it’s not made from glass, it is made from the air.”
The collection, featuring a variety of handbag styles and sizes, is the first ever to be sold at auction.
It also marks the first time Valentino has put a collection together to be available for sale.
There will be eight different sizes and four different handbag shapes, according to a press release.
Some of the bag shapes are the most sought after, including the Classic, Vintage and Classic-inspired handbags featured in Valentino designer Marlene Visconti’s collection.
While Valentino said it would be hard to sell its vintage collection, it does plan to auction the pieces in the coming weeks and sell them through online auctions.
Valento launched the collection in October of last year with a “re-imagining” of its signature collection.
The collection was designed to appeal to fashion fans of the 1960s and 1970s and to “celebrate the passion and creativity of our women,” Valentino marketing director Alessandro Faggini told The Wall St. Journal.
This year, Valentino unveiled a new collection called the “Bachelor” and an “Allure” collection with Valentino women’s designer Lianne Hermès.
Valentinai launched the first women’s collection, “Lioness” in 2007.
Fagginio told The Associated Press that the company had no plans to make a new women’s fragrance, but said Valentino would explore that concept.
Valenteis first vintage collection was launched in 2005.
In a statement, Valentinhas said it was “working closely with our team of experts, who are constantly working to create a more innovative collection.”
In addition to the vintage collection that was unveiled Thursday, Valentinais new collections are available on the company’s website for a suggested retail price of $6,400.The AP
