In the decade leading up to the release of the cult film The Shining, a small but dedicated cult of fans was obsessed with the movie, obsessed with its director, obsessed by its director’s name.
And they had a name for this obsession: The Pink Handbags Club.
A group of obsessive fans who believed in the movie and its director would take out their rage on fans of other cult films, and would attack the film’s cast and crew.
The Pink Hards Club was formed in 1996, when a handful of fans gathered in their garage in Atlanta and spent an hour on the phone, shouting at each other.
They wanted a name, a reason, a new movie.
They called it the Pink Handbag Club because the name was pink, and they wanted it to be exclusive to the group.
